SABI - SLOW, SUSTAINABLE CONCEPT STORE IN THE HEART OF LISBON

Lisbon concept store Sabi first opened its doors in July 2022, with a unique space close to the heart of the city’s historic Alfama district.

The Founder, artist Sarah Sofie Norbo, sought a home for her design led collections and the boutique offers a curated selection of clothes, jewellery, ceramics and paintings belonging to an ethos of slow, sustainable and the avantgarde.

The store itself was conceived and created to reflect the brand’s ethos.  Natural wood, stone and fabrics in neutral tones dictate the aesthetic of this oasis which offers a different shopping experience, as well as thoughtful corners where customers can sit and reflect.

Originally from Denmark, Sarah trained and worked around the world including in London and in Bali before settling in Lisbon.  Sarah takes her artistic inspiration and ethos from her Scandinavian heritage, combined with the Japanese Wabi-sabi aesthetic that celebrates the simple, the impermanent and the perfectly imperfect.  In Japan sabi refers to the concept that changes due to use may make an object more beautiful and valuable. This also creates an appreciation of the cycles of life, as well as careful, artful mending of damage.

The word sabi also means the appreciation of skilled hands at work and it perfectly describes Sabi’s ethos. Everything in the store is sustainable and carefully handmade, with the intention to last a lifetime and to be passed over to the next generation.   Each piece is inspired by the simple, subtle tones of nature, letting the textures and layers stand out.

Sarah creates all the ceramics and paintings in her studio in Lisbon. The clothing and jewellery line, are designed by her and crafted by artisans in Bali, who she established a connection to when she lived there.  The clothing line ‘nobody’ is unisex, avant-garde and highly comfortable, liberating the wearer from the norm.  Sabi support and celebrate individuality, not adhering to seasons, gender and trends. The collections are purposefully designed in neutral colours to allow for a focus on texture and layering.

AURUM BY GUÐBJÖRG LAUNCH EAGLE COLLECTION

"The white-tailed eagle - a symbol of freedom and strength”

Aurum soar into the new season with a striking new collection - Eagle.   Inspired by this majestic bird found in Iceland, the white-tailed eagle is a symbol of freedom and strength and emblematic of the start of a new year.

Goldsmith and head designer Guðbjörg turns to her homeland for inspiration and to Jónas Hallgrímmsson, one of Iceland's most beloved poets, whose poem titled Hornbjarg (Horn Crag) was a source of inspiration for the collection.

Horn Crag

High on Horn Crag's summit

(you hear them say out west)

sits on its lonely nest.

Guðbjörg comments:

Hornbjarg is one of the most spectacular places in Iceland, being the heart of Hornstrandir, Iceland's northernmost peninsula. It is named after the "Horn", a jagged rock that juts out to the north. Hornbjarg is home to one of the largest bird reserves in the country. Even though it faces directly north and there is often surface ice over the sea, its vegetation is incredibly lush.”

The collection includes a dramatic selection of necklaces featuring the full span of eagle’s wings, as well as earrings, ear crawlers, bracelets and rings depicting the bird’s feathers in contemporary styles and settings.

Respecting nature and preserving the environment is part of Aurum’s ethos and the eco-friendly collection is crafted in recycled 925 sterling silver, oxisided silver and 14K gold plated sterling silver.

Discover the new Eagle collection online at www.aurumiceland.com as well as in the brand’s flagship store in Reykjavik.

MERCER KEEBLE PR APPOINTED BY FINE JEWELLERY BRAND LATITUDE JEWELRY

Mercer Keeble Ltd has been appointed to represent the contemporary Brazilian fine jewellery brand Latitude Jewelry.

The brand, which launched in 2019, was founded by CEO and jewellery designer Gabriela Rodrigues.    Born in Brazil, her lifelong love affair with aviation and travel was sparked at an early age by her mother, Lúcia who was an air traffic controller.  Gabi, inspired by her mother, also became an air traffic controller in Brazil and worked in the aviation industry for many years, travelling widely around the world.  It was behind the scenes of aviation and with this privileged view, among maps, radars, routes and some of the most beautiful destinations in the world, that the attentive eye of Gabriela sought inspiration for her debut in the jewellery market.

Latitude Jewelry is fine jewellery brand which has a travel DNA running through it.  It is also characterised by Gabriela’s Brazilian heritage, her sense of adventure, her love of colour and bold design.   Like travel mementos, the distinctive jewels are based on the designer's memories and experiences and are designed to be highly collectible, versatile and practical.  Travel references and themes run throughout the designs from the wind rose, to globe motifs, flight routes and co-ordinates.

Diamonds and precious stones such as emeralds, sapphires and topaz join the colours of ornamental stones such as lapis lazuli and malachite, creating differentiated combinations, bringing modernity to pieces made in 18k yellow gold and white gold.  The brand seeks to honour cultures, discover destinations and awaken the adventurous spirit of those who wear them.
